Listing Translator for Etsy · Last updated 2026-09-12
This extension collects nothing. There is no server, no analytics, and no third-party code. The translation runs inside your own browser, and the text of your listing never reaches us.
What is stored
Only the settings you create yourself:
- Which of your own listings you translated today and into which languages — a counter kept only so the free plan’s daily limit can be applied. It is keyed by the listing id Etsy itself puts in the page address, and it starts empty again every day
- Whether you have Pro, and the unlock code you pasted into the popup
Both are stored using Chrome’s own storage.local API — held in this browser on this computer, not synchronised to other devices. The developer has no access to it.
What is not collected
- No browsing history
- No page content leaves your computer — the title, description and tags are read from the page you opened and handed straight to the browser’s own translator
- No URLs
- No personal information, no account, and no API key to paste
- No analytics, telemetry, crash reports, or usage statistics
- No advertising or tracking identifiers
Translation
Translation comes from the translator built into Chrome (Chrome 138 or newer), which runs on your own device. The extension makes no network requests of any kind. One thing is worth naming plainly: the first time you use a language, Chrome may need to download that language’s pack. The panel tells you before it starts and shows the progress. That download is Chrome’s own request to its vendor, not ours, and the text of your listing is not part of it. If your browser does not offer the translator, or reports a state we do not recognise, the panel says so and translates nothing rather than guessing.
Permissions
Two, and that is all of them. storage keeps the two things listed above, on this computer. The host permission is https://www.etsy.com/your/shops/* — your own shop’s listing editor and nothing else: not the rest of Etsy, not any other site. On those pages the extension reads the title, description and tags already shown, to translate them. It cannot publish, save or edit your listing — it has no permission to, and it never types into Etsy for you. Copying the result into Etsy’s Translations section is your own action.
Outside the extension
One link in the popup, and one that appears in the panel when the free daily limit is reached, open a page on our own website in a new tab — only when you click them. That page counts that a visit happened (date and path only — no cookie, no IP address, no identifier). Payment, if you choose to subscribe, happens on Stripe’s checkout page, not inside the extension; the extension never sees a card and charges nothing itself.
Data sharing
None. There is no backend to share data with, and no data is sold, transferred, or disclosed to any third party.
Data deletion
Uninstalling the extension removes everything listed above. There is nothing on our side to delete, because nothing was ever sent there. The daily counter also clears itself every day on its own.
When you uninstall
Nothing happens. This extension has no background page and sets no uninstall page, so removing it opens nothing and sends nothing. Chrome deletes everything it stored along with it.
Changes
Material changes to this policy will be reflected in the version published with the extension and dated above.
